This assignment will be an analytic essay in which you will address the rhetorical effectiveness of an advertisement for food or drink. You will use some of the rhetorical strategies we have discussed to analyze the primary text. You need to rhetorically analyze an advertisement for any kind of food or drink, or diet, and you must include a copied image of the ad with the essay. When you have your chosen advertisement, you will analyze the ways in which the linguistic and visual rhetoric homework readings (Pollan, Maxfield, or Zinczenko) to help explain what message you think your ad is sending. Included in the essay will be a description of the rhetoric strategies in the ad, as well as a rhetorical analysis of their effects on readers using one of those articles.
